Boaikang, the only inclusive commercial health insurance designated by the Zhongshan government, has received the general public's attention since its launch on February 16. Over 550,000 citizens have been insured in just over one month. That is, on average, one out of every six insured persons for Zhongshan medical insurance is covered by Boaikang.

At present, two claim settlement methods are supported. The first is "one-stop settlement", in which basic medical insurance and critical illness insurance will be settled with Boaikang and the reimbursement can be made by swiping the medical insurance card when patients are discharged from hospital, without any additional application for claims. At present, this service is available in Zhongshan People's Hospital, Zhongshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Zhongshan Bo'ai Hospital, Torch Development Zone Hospital, Xiaolan People's Hospital, Chen Xinghai Hospital, and Dongsheng Hospital.

The second is "sporadic reimbursement", which is used to apply online for expenses that cannot be settled in "one-stop settlement" through the official WeChat account "中山博愛康".

As of March 25, Boaikang has handled 1,081 applications for "sporadic reimbursement" and compensated a total of 534,800 yuan; 296 applications for "one-stop settlement", with a total compensation of 2,404,300 yuan, of which the largest single compensation amounted to 157,600 yuan.
