On October 20, the Yuefeng Environmental Protection Science Research Base in the Zhongshan Southern Group Comprehensive Waste Treatment Base was recognized as a National 3A Scenic Spot, the first of this kind focusing on the popularization of environmental protection science in Zhongshan.

Inside the exhibition hall of the Yuefeng Environmental Protection Science Research Base, there are such devices for interaction as stereo projectors, brid and insect sound recordings, electric bicycles and etc, which give visitors a feeling of the harmonious beauty of nature and the magical transformation process of resources. The educational walls and short videos displayed vividly show the importance of garbage classification and the treatment process of household garbage.

Along the tour route, visitors can see through a glass wall the entire process of waste-to-energy power generation and the smoothly running machines.

The Yuefeng Environmental Protection Science Research Base with a total building area of 2,000 plus square meters fully opened to the public in late December last year. It has received nearly 200,000 visitors so far.

The Zhongshan Southern Group Comprehensive Waste Treatment Base covers a land area of 1,263 mu, with incineration power plant, sanitary landfill, leachate treatment plant, organic refuse resourceful treatment system, management center among other facilities. It can handle 8,714 tons of garbage per day in full operation.
