On May 5, the first working day after the May Day holiday, Zhongshan started a large-scale water pollution control campaign, which aims to completely clean up all heavily polluted rivers in urban areas by 2024.
So far, 112 river cleaning projects have been completed and 215 rivers are in the process of being treated.
Zhongshan will strive to achieve the following goals by the end of 2022:
Startwater pollution control projects formore than 400 rivers, finish installation of 765 kilometers of sewage pipes, and complete detection for 400 kilometers of sewage pipes;
Expand the capacity of Zhongjia and Zhenjiashan sewage treatment plants in downtown Zhongshan by 300,000 tons/day, start the construction of 10 sewage treatment plants and complete 2;
Start the construction of rural domestic sewage treatment projects in 94 administrative villages, and complete waste treatment projects in 69 administrative villages.
