Upon review by the China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance and the Guangdong Fisheries Society, Zhongshan's Sanjiao Town has been awarded the title of "China's Home of Snakehead".
Sanjiao has registered 2 public trademarks, including "Sanjiao Nongqing Snakehead" and "Wuban Hybrid Snakehead", fostered 2 city-level leading agricultural enterprises mainly breeding snakeheads, and formed a mature industry chain covering fry hatching, fry culture, adult fish breeding, intermediary circulation, rough processing and refinement.
By the end of 2022, Sanjiao had a total snakehead breeding area of 14,000 mu, which produced over 90,000 tons of marketable fish, with an annual output value of over 1.4 billion yuan. With the inclusion of fry hatching, culture, circulation and processing, the output value of the whole industry chain exceeded 1.7 billion yuan.
