According to Customs statistics, Zhongshan's imports and exports in the first two months totaled 41.72 billion yuan, a 23.1% year-on-year increase. Exports amounted to 36.68 billion yuan, up 27.8%, and imports totaled 5.04 billion yuan, down 2.5%.

Imports and exports from general trade generated 27.34 billion yuan, marking a growth of 34.3% and accounting for 65.5% of the total import and export value. In comparison, imports and exports from processing trade amounted to 12.42 billion yuan, increasing by 2.9% and taking up 29.8% of the total. Exports from market procurement trade reached 1.4 billion yuan, growing by 80.8%.

Imports and exports from private enterprises totaled 20.18 billion yuan, bumping up by 35.2% and comprising 48.4% of the total. Imports and exports from foreign-invested enterprises amounted to 18.65 billion yuan, growing by 8.9% and taking up 44.7% of the total. Imports and exports from from state-owned enterprises stood at 2.89 billion yuan, up 58.6% and accounting for 6.9% of the total.

Zhongshan's exports and imports to and from the United States, European Union and the ASEAN amounted to 7.14 billion yuan (25.6% growth), 6.7 billion yuan (28.7% growth), and 4.82 billion yuan (21.9% growth) respectively. The city's exports and imports to and from Hong Kong China and Japan reached 2.25 billion yuan (5.8% decrease) and 1.91 billion yuan (15.2% decrease). Exports and imports to and from Belt-and-Road countries and RCEP members were 16.56 billion yuan (30.2% increase) and 8.93 billion yuan (9.8% increase) respectively.

Exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 29.13 billion yuan, marking a growth of 30.8%, accounting for 79.4% of Zhongshan's total. Of which, household appliances accounted for 9.64 billion yuan, increasing by 43.9%; and lamps, lighting fixtures and related spare parts contributed 3.02 billion yuan, growing by 41.5%. The export of labor-intensive products was 4.53 billion yuan, an increase of 23.5%, and accounted for 12.3% of the total.
