The Guangdong Zhongshan Cuiheng National Wetland Park will be open to the public for free in December this year. As of now, 90% of the infrastructural construction of its west bank has been completed. Bidding for the operating unit has already begun.
Located at the fresh and salt water intersection of the Hengmen Waterway at the Pearl River Estuary in Tsuihang New District, Nanlang Town, Cuiheng National Wetland Park has a planned area of 625.6 hectares, with 395.44 hectares of wetland.
Cuiheng National Wetland Park consists of both coastal wetlands and constructed wetlands. It also has five wetland types of estuary waters, mangroves, silt beaches, intertidal salt marshes and paddy fields.
Hengmen Waterway, located between Guangzhou's Nansha wetland and Zhuhai's Qi'ao Island, is 9 kilometers straight-line distance away from the two aforesaid bird habitats. Once completed, Cuiheng National Wetland Park will provide an ecological habitat and form a migratory channel for international migratory birds together with Nansha wetland and Qi'ao Island.
